Freudic Singers Commission

I was recently commissioned to write a piece for the 30th anniversary of the Freudig Singers of Western New York.  This fine group, under the direction of Roland Martin,  has done a number of my pieces, and I have been able to attend some of their performances.  I was thrilled by this opportunity, because I got to know some of the singers and regard them as friends. The piece I wrote for them is called “Sing To The Lord A New Song”, and it will be premiered by them in March 2015.

Night of Dreams

Yesterday I was treated to an absolutely beautiful performance of my piece “Night of Dreams” by the Chester County Choral Society.  It is really gratifying to see the impact that this piece still has on the audience. Many thanks to Gary Garletts for including it once again on a program, and also on their newly-released Christmas CD.  I have also been invited to another performance of this piece at Hopewell Methodist in Downingtown, and it is also being performed on Christmas Eve in Lancaster, PA.

Song Cycle “Nameless”

My song cycle, “Nameless”, will be premiered by soprano Emily Bullock and baritone Randall Scarlata on Monday, Nov. 10th at 7:30 PM, in the Philips Autograph Library at West Chester University, West Chester, PA.  The texts are by LA-based musician and poet Mary Lou Newmark, and deal with the issues of the mentally ill and the homeless. Admission is free.
