Commissioned Work to Debut -Thursday Musical Club celebrates 100 years

The Thursday Musical Club in Schenectady, NY commissioned me to write a piece to commemorate their 100th anniversary.  These civic minded ladies are inspiring leaders in their community and are testament to the women who came before. If you are going to be in New York, the details are below. After the jump there is a nice article that talks about the ladies and my piece. Enjoy!

2011 Freudig Singers Choral Composition Competition

The Freudig Singers of Western New York hosted the 3rd Annual International Choral Composition Competition, featuring unpublished works of talented composers from around the world. The juried selection committee reviewed 54 submissions this year representing 4 continents, 8 countries and 13 states. The finalists were featured in a performance at Buffalo Seminary on Bidwell Parkway in Buffalo on Saturday, October 27.

This was the premiere of my choral suite, “An Adirondack Day”, performed in Oct. 2011 by the Freudig Singers, Roland Martin, conductor. This suite is a setting of poems by Nadine McLaughlin.  The piece was a finalist and received one of four honorable mention honors.
